Portcullis ICE Conference 2023

Our Portcullis ICE Conference had an overall attendance of 120 people. We have received amazing feedback in person and on social media that we are all delighted to receive here at Portcullis.

We had Toby Gorniak MBE and Jo Gorniak open the Conference for the second time, which always gets the audience engaged. Followed by Ross Hulbert from Spaceport Cornwall, who talked about Virgin’s Cosmic Girl being launched successfully, but then finding an anomaly, resulting with the satellites not being able to be released. Howard Davies, the co-founder of Salcombe Gin, spoke about his journey with his business partner in creating their business and how successful it has now become. Katy Schnitzler, founder of MIST Workshops, spoke about infertility and child loss in the workplace and how her workshops are a support system for those who have been affected. We then had David Barrett, who is the Director of Tamar Fresh, he spoke about his family history with the business and the demand of the business through COVID. Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE presented academic research about entrepreneurs and his awards organisation ‘Start Up 500’. Lastly, we had Jack Romero who is an entrepreneur and started his own airline ‘British Mediterranean Airways’ (BMED), which was a fascinating story about his life and the huge personal challenges he had with Civil War in his homeland.

An incredible day with inspirational speakers at a great venue at Plymouth Argyle.
